Patrick Sampair has over 43 years of legal experience and has helped thousands of Arizonans with their family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, child relocation and alimony (or spousal maintenance) disputes. Mr. Sampair has expertise resolving complex financial matters that arise in a family law dispute, drawn in part from his experience litigating civil and criminal tax cases during his early years of law practice. Mr. Sampair is particularly committed to providing his clients with effective and affordable legal representation; he is dedicated to minimizing the negative effects divorce proceedings and related disputes can have on children.
Carlie Owsley

Carlie was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She has over 21 years of family and juvenile law experience. She attended Arizona State University earning her B.A. in Political Science in 1998. She attended law school at Texas A&M (formerly Texas Wesleyan) earning her law degree in 2002. While in law school, Carlie was elected as President of the Student Bar Association. Carlie has won several awards, including the Volunteer Lawyers Program ‘For Love of Justice’ Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for Phoenix in 2009 and 2013. Carlie is known for her passionate and unrelenting representation for all clients in the most difficult of cases. Carlie also acted as a Maricopa County Judge Pro Tem for three years in family law and child support matters.
Laura Gillis

For over two decades, Attorney Laura Gillis has dedicated her legal career to assisting clients during the most difficult times in their lives.
Ms. Gillis concentrates her focus to the area of family law and domestic relations matters. She exclusively handles cases of divorce, legal separation, child custody, child support, and the establishment of paternity. Ms. Gillis also handles post decree modifications of agreements regarding parenting time, legal decision-making authority, child support and spousal maintenance.
Laura’s approach to family law is deeply rooted in her belief that strong communication and understanding are crucial to navigating family disputes.
Michele Surett

Michele joined The Sampair Group in 2016. Michele was admitted as an affiliate member to the State Bar of Arizona in May 2024 and is licensed to practice family law consistent with ACJA § 7-210. She has worked in the area of family law for over 22 years and in the legal industry since 1995. For more than two decades, Michele has focused her practice on matters related to divorce, child support, child-related legal decision making, parenting time, asset and debt division, spousal support and modification of existing court orders.

Erica has a decade of experience with The Sampair Group, handling all aspects of daily business operations. In addition to operational duties, she is responsible for the firm’s financial management. Erica works closely with clients to ensure a positive experience.
Erica takes pride in helping create a positive work environment where the legal team can do their best work and clients feel cared for every step of the way.
In her free time, Erica enjoys spending time with her friends, family, husband and dog, Luci.
Donato Zavala

As Client Acquisition Manager, Donato is often the first voice a client hears when they reach out to the firm — and from that very first conversation, his mission is simple: make sure you feel heard, understood, and safe. He knows that picking up the phone to call a law firm, especially during something as painful as a family law matter, takes courage. His job is to make sure that call feels like the right decision from the moment he answers.
Donato’s warmth is not something he learned in a classroom — it is just who he is. A graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Criminology, he brings a genuine understanding of people and what they need in their most vulnerable moments. Standing at 6’7” with a background in football, he may be an imposing presence on paper, but anyone who has spoken with him knows he is one of the most approachable, big-hearted people in the room.
He is passionate about this work because he knows firsthand how overwhelming the legal process can feel. His goal is to be the steady, caring presence that makes that weight a little easier to carry.
Stephanie Savage
Paralegal
Stephanie joined The Sampair Group in 2018. Stephanie is a dedicated paralegal with 20 years family law experience. Throughout her career, Stephanie has developed skills in family law matters, including divorce proceedings, parenting time disputes, and child support calculations. She is skilled in legal research, document preparation, client communication, and consistently provides invaluable support to the attorney and client.
Stephanie’s attention to detail and organizational skills are instrumental in managing complex cases under the direct supervision of the attorney, and she has a thorough understanding of court procedures, filing requirements and rule changes.
Stephanie is known for her empathy and compassion when working with clients who are often experiencing challenging situations. Stephanie applies personal life experiences in helping families navigate their family law case. Her commitment to professional development and passion for helping families are an asset to The Sampair Group and clients.
In Stephanie’s personal time, she is a mother and bonus-mother to six children ranging from ages 22 to 7. She enjoys spending time with her family in the Arizona outdoors and loves all things fast. Stephanie and her family can be found jet skiing at lakes or on a desert trail in the side-by-side throughout Arizona.
Connie Himes
Paralegal
Connie joined The Sampair Group in 2021. Connie has worked in the legal field for almost 40 years, beginning as a legal secretary. In the 1990s, Connie graduated from American Institute in Phoenix, Arizona with an Associates Decree in Paralegal Studies. Connie is currently working in family law area with The Sampair Group and has previously worked in civil litigation, probate, estate planning, family law, and Bankruptcy. Connie enjoys thrift store shopping in her leisure time.

With more than eight years of dedicated experience in family law, in California and Arizona combined, Amanda is a Paralegal who is committed to providing exceptional support to attorneys and clients throughout every stage of the legal process. Amanda understands that family law matters often involve some of the most significant and emotional challenges individuals and families face. She is passionate about helping clients navigate these difficult transitions with compassion, respect, and confidence. Her primary goal is always to support the legal team in achieving positive outcomes that align with each client’s unique needs, priorities, and long-term objectives.
