The moments after becoming engaged are filled with joy, then comes the task of planning a wedding. Several considerations go into planning this event, even if your plan is to keep it small. A guest list must be written, taking care to be sure and invite those that matter the most in your life. A venue has to be found, and then hopefully it is available for booking on the day of your choice. The bride can spend countless hours trying on a dress before finding the right one, and of course a menu must be created. Another important part of your wedding day includes choosing an officiant. For some families the choice is easy: the priest or reverend from the family Church, or a family member who happens to be ordained.
A celebrity wedding includes all of these things, and then some. Picking an official to perform the ceremony can be more cumbersome for a celebrity, because the couple will take special care to make sure the details of the nuptials are kept secret. Here is a list of officials that have performed celebrity weddings, and a bit of insight into the ceremony:
- Rich Wilkerson, Jr. performed the wedding for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Wilkerson says the pair wanted a Christian theme, with an emphasis on joy and love.
- Carl Lentz, from the Christian band Hillsong, performed the ceremony for NBA player Landry Fields and Elaine Alden and said it was special to be part of the big day for the couple.
- Mumford Sons singer Marcus kept it all in the family when he has his dad John marry him and longtime girlfriend Carey Mulligan.
Perhaps the most visible wedding of recent years is that of Prince William to Kate Middleton. In that instance not only was the wedding day declared a national British banking holiday, but the choice of officiant was made early on: Lord Rowan Williams performed the ceremony that was watched by close to 30 million.
